After purchasing the Hotel in November 2001, great effort has been made by the new licensees in restoring the Hotel to reflect the Victoriana style of architecture, the period in which the hotel was built.

The main bar and the bar in the lounge were re-built in an original style by Kieren Lucas and some of the timbers are original red gum from the bridges on the old Beechworth railway line.

Upstairs we now have guest accommodation and dining. The upper level with Parlour and Balcony is a fine example of the art deco period in which the top floor was originally built. Original features include the restored granite fireplace and the bevelled glass period doors in the Parlour. This intimate space adjoining the Balcony bar and restaurant is perfect for private functions.

In 2004 the High Street side of the “old pub yard” was refurbished to create a garden Courtyard complete with bar and wood fire pizza oven. The feature brickwork paving is made from old red bricks. A feature of the Courtyard is a large Chinese Elm – a fitting memorial to Chinese immigrant Albert Wong and his family, who ventured to Beechworth during the gold rush. This courtyard overlooks the site of the bare knuckle fight between Ned Kelly and Isiah "Wild" Right.
