Kulchajam is a not-for-profit arts and cultural organisation cultivating new models of creative collaboration and shared resources. We are set up as a model of community cultural development that integrates social enterprise principles, sustainability, cultural exchange, and artistic excellence.
Our hub in the Byron Arts & Industrial estate includes a dance studio, meeting room/lounge, cafe/restaurant and outdoor courtyards. The centre provides a platform, facilities and support to local artists, cultural workers, healers, creative and small scale sustainable business to engage in the local economy.
Projects that have been initiated by Kulchajam include INSCRIBE youth mentoring street art project, artist kulcha artist coop, TEKSTAR digital arts and technology program, CO*OP Kulcha (now Mullumbimby Food Cooperative), an artist residenchy program and KENE Peruvian women artisan solidarity project.
