The Legs On The Wall story is defined by persistence, change, reinvention and achievement. Our local, national and international success makes us a leader in Australian physical theatre. We tell powerful, intelligent, sometimes emotional, often humorous stories via an exuberant synergy of circus, theatre and dance.

Established in 1984 by a group of young artists busking on the streets of Sydney, Legs was incorporated as an association in 1992. In 2004, on our 20th birthday, the NSW Government rewarded us with our own purpose-built home, the Red Box in Lilyfield.

The Red Box is more than just our home. As head tenants at our Lilyfield base, we have created a much-loved welcoming hub and home for the four other companies and 7,000 artists who use the Red Box and Warehouse Studios each year. We offer a stable, creative professional environment where experimentation is encouraged and celebrated.

Legs On The Wall is a mature global cultural export. As ambassadors, we have performed around the world reaching audiences in their thousands through our outdoor work (and even millions including television viewers) – such as the opening night of the London Cultural Olympiad in 2012 (The Voyage), Homelands in the Sydney CBD, and most recently at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow (Perch). We have also reached thousands through the intimate experience of our in theatre work such as All Of Me, Bubble and most recently Puncture.

At the forefront of everything we do is the audience. Over the course of our lifetime, we estimate 680,000 people have come to see a Legs show. Legs is now 31. Yet that anarchic freedom that first saw us kick up our legs before astonished passers-by on the streets of Sydney has never left us. We are brave, bold and embrace risk, in the air and on the ground.
