Set in picturesque parklands adjoining the Yarra River and only a few kilometres from Melbourne’s CBD, Melbourne Polytechnic's heritage listed Fairfield campus was formerly home to the Fairfield Infectious Diseases Hospital (closed in 1996).

Melbourne Polytechnic acquired the Fairfield campus in 2004 and based its Horticulture programs along with Creative Arts and Perfoming Arts programs there too.

Yarra House, formerly the hospital residential nurses' quarters, has been completely renovated and transformed to provide Melbourne Polytechnic's first on-campus student accommodation.

The Fairfield campus Student Centre includes the Library & Bookshop, Extended Hours Computer Lab and Student Services. The Extended Hours Lab is accessed by swipe card.

Fairfield campus is alive with activities, including regular exhibitions at the Building B Gallery Space and concerts at Yarra Edge Music Centre. The Horticulture Department provides plant sales at the Nursery, where you can pick up some bargains. The campus also has an extensive library.

Fairfield campus has food available at the picturesque Yarra Edge Nursery Cafe as well as the cafeteria.

Don’t forget to say hello to the peacocks roaming the grounds.

The AIDS Memorial Garden was first established in April 1988. The garden was developed as a place of tranquillity and respite for patients in the AIDS Ward at Fairfield Hospital and their families and friends.
