The Bunker Cartoon Gallery, Australia's first and only public cartoon gallery, was officially opened on 24 August 1996 by the then Minister for Communication and the Arts, Senator Richard Alston.
The Bunker Cartoon Gallery has been the recipient of a number of awards including the distinguished Stanley Award presented by the ACA for outstanding contribution to cartooning in Australia and the 2002 and 2003 North Coast NSW Tourism Awards for Heritage and Culture.
