Parramatta Park is one of Australia's most important cultural landscapes and is inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List

Old Government House and Domain is one of the 11 historic places that together form the Australian Convict Sites World Heritage property. The World Heritage Committee meeting in Brasilia (Brazil) has inscribed the Australian Convict Sites (of which Parramatta Park and Old Government House are included under the joint name of ‘Old Government House and Domain’) on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

It is place of National cultural heritage significance: evidence of 20,000 years of Aboriginal occupation and land use exists throughout the park; a Vice-Regal domain from 1788; and an early and major public park established in 1858 - one of the earliest in the world.

The park environment includes historic buildings and archaeological sites, historic views and landscapes, remnant and regenerated Cumberland Plain vegetation, a significant waterway and extensive open fields.

Parramatta Park is one of the largest parks in western Sydney and offers a relaxing and picturesque setting for families and community groups wishing to enjoy a day outdoors.

Parramatta Park attracts over 1.7 million visitors annually and is a great place to ride bicycles, rollerblade, walk, run and play cricket and football. The park is venue to major events such as music festivals, Australia Day celebrations, Sydney Symphony in Parramatta Park, the Mother's Day Classic and a variety of community events. Our facilities include playgrounds, sporting fields, BBQ and picnic areas and the Parramatta Park Cafe & Event Centre.

Parramatta Park is located on the Parramatta River, on a small hill overlooking the City of Parramatta. Historic Old Government House stands within the park.

Managed by the Parramatta Park Trust under the provisions of the Parramatta Park Trust Act 2001, Parramatta Park Trust aims to conserve the historic values harmoniously co-existing with recreational facilities and integrated with the surrounding environment.
