The Creative Industries Precinct is Australia's first site dedicated to creative experimentation and commercial development in the creative industries. It provides a unique opportunity for designers, artists, researchers, educators and entrepreneurs to easily connect and collaborate with others to create new work, develop new ideas and grow the creative industries sector in Queensland.

Working closely with partners from government and industry, QUT is a national leader in the development of creative industries in Queensland and Australia and is fast becoming an internationally-networked hub of creative enterprise.

The $60 million Creative Industries Precinct boasts some of the most advanced digital facilities to support the creative work undertaken and some of the most exciting partners in identifying the next generation of ideas. Our venues are also available for hire.

Located on the western fringe of Brisbane's Central Business District, the Precinct is part of the newly established Kelvin Grove Urban Village.

Developed in partnership with the Queensland Government Department of Housing, the KGUV is a multi-user residential and retail village housing more than 800 units ranging from low-cost student to affordable accommodation and penthouses with city views, and a range of retail outlets including a supermarket, restaurants, cafes and weekly Farmers Markets. The Kelvin Grove Urban Village is also home to the Queensland Academy for Creative Industries, inspiring the next generation of creative thinkers.

The Creative Industries Precinct is a destination for local, national and international productions, exhibitions and events which showcases emerging digital and new media work. Interactive exhibition spaces, an experimental black-box theatre, a parade ground and outdoor terraces ideal for multi-media performance all present an expansive program of exhibitions, live performance, screenings, festivals and seminars. The Precinct also boasts Australia's largest billboard - 45m x 9m - exhibiting public artwork from some of Australia's most prolific artists and designers.
