In April 2019, beloved nightclub Lounge was forced to close. Luckily, the lease and license were snapped up by Maz Salt of Section 8, Ferdydurke, The B.East and Globe Alley. The new spot is called Radar.
The turntables and bar are in the same place, as is the dance floor but the space received a new lick of paint, reupholstered booths, polished concrete floors, and a sound system and lighting upgrade. The iconic balcony is still there, but a balustrade has been added to separate the old raised area of the dance floor.
Above the turntables, wrapping around the dance floor’s ceiling and walls is an undulating new light installation by the John Fish Collective (whose work has been featured at festivals such as Pitch Music and Arts, Freedom Time and Strawberry Fields).
The DJ decks sit a 130-year-old table, and they’re flanked by two Funktion-One speaker stacks. - Broadsheet.com
