In 1999, speciality coffee didn’t exist in Melbourne. And then when 2005 rolled around, ST ALi was at the forefront. Brimming with potential. Bursting at the seams. It was what better tasted like. What misunderstood looked like. It was labelled pretentious but really it was just curious. Led by Salvatore Malatesta, it broke through the wall with specialty coffee and brought it to the masses. It built up a head of steam.
