The Goat Gallery was founded as a privately owned art gallery in January 2006. During 2014–2015, it took part in the Natimuk Small Towns Transformation Project. The Goat Gallery successfully trialled a community managed gallery model through the Natimuk Small Towns Transformation Project funded by Regional Arts Victoria.
This model continues (after a hiatus while seeking a gallery curator), continuing the auspice of Arapiles Community Theatre, with the active support of the gallery building owners. The Goat Gallery continues in its remit to showcase local and regional artists from Australia, now also with a view to occasional international regional exhibitors.
