The Sweetwater Inn

Tucked away behind the Jam Factory on Bray Street in South Yarra, The Sweetwater Inn takes you to a place somewhere in the back of beyond. A place where cans of Fosters, Melbourne Bitter and VB are $5, and you can order a Billy Tea cocktail. Weathered corrugated iron panels adorn the wall behind the bar, whilst the rest of the space boasts distressed wood, cowhides, tall waxy candles and various hints of Australiana.

The modern twist of this outback-style eatery is the largely vegan/vegetarian menu, although carnivores will love the beef cheeks, or kangaroo steak sanga, marinated in bundy and coke. Spending time at the Inn on any given evening may have you playing 'spot Ned Kelly', as it seems to be a watering hole for many a bearded man from the Melbourne wilderness.
