On 10th January 1924, a meeting was held in the Torquay Public Hall at which it was decided to form a Bowling club. The site chosen for the Club was the old golf links - named Taylor Park soon after JW Taylor's death in 1921. An appeal for donations resulted in 40 pounds being promised at the meeting and we were on our way for the club to come into being, with membership fixed at one pound one shilling.

From our early days where lawn bowls was also offered as a recreation option at Melba House guesthouse early in the 20th century to 90 years later, members and the community are still enjoying our facilities, just recently renovated.

In the past few years our club has seen dynamic growth in membership, primarily due to the raging success of the Wednesday & Thursday Twilighter groups. So healthy are our numbers (currently around 600) that we rank among the highest bowling memberships in the state and has earned our club a "Lighthouse Club" acknowledgment in 2012/13.
