The Unley Museum is a vibrant local history museum packed with activities, information, historical photographs and objects relating to the social, commercial and environmental history of Unley and its people. The museum was once a fire station (1898-1968), and still has many connections to its fiery history to track down through fun activities.

With over 12,000 photographs and things to look at, there are plenty of stories to uncover and secrets to discover. Its friendly staff can answer questions and provide tours of its galleries. We exhibit many things from our collection, including a 100-year-old toy dog and a fire hose from the early twentieth century. The Museum has three galleries, a research library and conducts research into house histories, families and other interesting stories from Unley’s past.

Our exhibitions are always changing and we regularly exhibit contemporary art that complements our historical collection. The exhibitions contain games and activities for all ages to enjoy, you can even try your hand at sending a message in Morse Code. It provides a research service and can provide a history of your house in the Unley area and offer regular walking and bus tours of the area.
