Zoie Cafe

We fell in love sharing food and travel experiences together. And once we were in love, these same experiences continued as celebrations of life’s milestones – including our marriage, our achievements, and getting pregnant. One of our favourite destinations was the clifftop village of Imerovigli on the Greek Island of Santorini and as well as soaking in the amazing ocean views, we learnt the Greek word for life was Zoe or Zoie. When our daughter was born some months later, we named her Zoe and when we were thinking of a name for our busy café at Scarborough Beach full of life and colour, we again felt the name Zoie was a perfect fit.

Of course, life can have its ups and downs, and moving interstate with a 2-year-old to follow a dream to start a new business in a different field in 2018 (we were both from the corporate world), led to some interesting times and lots of learning! Therefore, to be your best self, we believe life is about love, food and Neoteny. Having great ocean views doesn’t hurt either. We define Neoteny as being playful, open, imaginative, energetic and curious and combining these ‘child-like’ qualities with the wisdom, focus and sharp intellect that life experience and learning brings.
