Radiohead Release Statement After Stage Collapse

Radiohead’s drummer Philip Selway has released a statement via the band’s website, after 33-year-old drum technician Scott Johnson was killed when the stage collapsed before the Toronto concert yesterday afternoon.

“We have all been shattered by the loss of Scott Johnson, our friend and colleague. He was a lovely man, always positive, supportive and funny; a highly skilled and valued member of our great road crew. We will miss him very much. Our thoughts and love are with Scott’s family and all those close to him.”

According to CBS News, as least three more were injured during the collapse at Downview Park.

Gates were set to be opened at 5pm; the band announced the show's cancellation at 7:30pm.

Onlooker and food vendor Jeff Cole has told CBS: “It’s very, very fortunate that the gates weren’t open, because it would have been pandemonium.”
