Many cancer patients are well enough to be treated as outpatients. This means they may have to find accommodation close to the hospital where they are to receive treatment. To help meet this vital need, Cancer Council Queensland has established accommodation
support lodges with both self-contained units and studio-style apartments at locations across the State.
The lodges provide comfortable accommodation in pleasant surroundings for regional and rural cancer patients undergoing treatment in these locations who do not require nursing care or assistance. Patients staying at our lodges need to be accompanied by an authorised carer who is able to help meet the practical needs of a person undergoing cancer treatment,
such as shopping and cooking.
For those without a carer, a medical assessment form outlining their ability to confidently care for themselves without additional assistance is required.
