Paddington Public School is one of the State’s oldest continuously operating schools. An advertisement in the Sydney Morning Herald announced the opening of the school, on 5th May, 1856.
The first building on the present site was an “Iron House”, a type of portable building made in England, designed to hold 200 children and to train Pupil Teachers, and was one of four so called “Model “ schools.
