Lucinda Williams's "Car Wheels On A Gravel Road" was released 20 years ago, at a time when the new "alternative country" movement was taking shape and refining its style and purpose. This breakthrough album, by an artist that didn’t fit into the standard mould of what it was to be a ‘country artist’ despite being acknowledged within the country community as a significant songwriting and performing talent, became an important ‘ground zero’ marker point for the "Americana" scene and continues to inspire artists and define what it takes to BE an artist in that genre.

"20 years of Car Wheels" is a celebration of that album, and some of Lucinda Williams's enviable catalogue. Led by one of Australia’s best Alt.Country voices, Katie Brianna, and producer/multi-instrumentalist Michael Carpenter, and featuring vocalists Brielle Davis (Not Good With Horses) and Peta Caswell, and a house band featuring Carpenter, Casey Atkins, Mike Rix and Russell Crawford, the show is a celebration of not only an important artist and album but also a genre that continues to grow in Sydney and Australia.
