A Garden of Weeds—chamber music from America, England, Czech and Hungary.
Fragments Ensemble, together with the Brisbane Commissariat Store, invite you into their home for Brisbane Open House. This special concert will feature chamber music for soprano, clarinet and piano, performed by internationally acclaimed musicians Judit Molnar, Rianne Wilschut and Brieley Cutting. Our concert program brings together a unique selection of serious to light-hearted compositions, music from American and English composers contrasting with Eastern European.
You will hear Leonard Bernstein's comical musical masterpiece "I Hate Music” and the comfortably old-fashioned and fleeting Clerihew Songs by English composer Paul Harris, the pastoral scenes created by Arnold Cooke’s “Three Songs of Innocence,” and the engaging “A Garden of Weeds” by Terence Greaves. Interspersed will be beautifully melancholic songs from Hungary by Kodály and Kurtág, and Czech composer Martinu’s virtuosic and original Sonatina for Clarinet and Piano.
