César award-nominated filmmaker Frédéric Tellier (SK1) is partial to exploring the sacrifices professional services men and women make for the common good—a theme he takes to new levels of emotionality in Through the Fire.

Franck (Pierre Niney, A Perfect Man, AF FFF2017; The Odyssey, AF FFF2018) is a firefighter beyond reproach. His commitment to his job and motto “to save or perish” are reflected in the loving relationship he shares with his wife, Cécile (Anaïs Demoustier, Jealous and Tomorrow and Thereafter, AF FFF2018) and their children.

His greatest test comes when, in the line of duty, Franck gets horribly burned, his survival being nothing less than a miracle. As part of the long, arduous journey back to health, Franck must not only rebuild himself physically but also psychologically. And even a man as strong as Franck has his limitations.

Tellier takes a shot at our hearts with Through the Fire, essentially tackling the big existential questions and getting to the very core of what it means to be human. His film is a sensitive one that encompasses the full spectrum of emotion, promising to stay with the audience well after the viewing experience has ended.
