American Express Openair Cinemas are on a mission to make winter better, coming back to Brisbane this July in a brand-new home: the iconic Botanic Gardens. An exciting festival program of food and films has been revealed today including the Opening Night screening of musical fantasy Rocketman (19/07).

The early return of the popular outdoor cinema this Winter will again play host to an array of festival-vibe entertainment, with American Express Card Members receiving a range of exclusive benefits.

Films
This year’s program is an exciting mix of box office hits and highly anticipated new releases including Rocketman (19/07, 27/07 & 2/08), Men in Black: International (21/07), X-men: Dark Phoenix (28/07), Yesterday (08/08 & 14/08) and Spiderman: Far from Home (11/08 & 15/08).

Little and big kids alike will rejoice at screenings of family films such as Aladdin (20/07, 26/07 & 04/08), The Secret Life of Pets 2 (10/08 & 16/08) and Toy Story 4 (03/08 & 09/08).

American Express Openair Cinemas have always been proud supporters of Australian cinema and will be screening three homegrown films in Brisbane season: the inspiring documentary 2040 (23/07) and two hilarious rom-coms: Top End Wedding (01/08) and Standing Up For Sunny (07/08).

For fans of cult classics, this year’s program features an 80th Anniversary screening of The Wizard of Oz on 13th August, a special Christmas in July screening of Love Actually on 24th July and a throwback screening of the most quotable film of all times: Clueless on 6th August (As if!).

Food
Brand-new food partner for 2019 is Pizza Queensland Bros, who will be cooking up a storm throughout the program. There will be a mouth-watering daily menu of irresistible woodfired pizzas (including Nutella pizza!), antipasto platters and salads, which are sure to delight cinemagoers.

Drinks
Fear not, the refreshments are taken care of, thanks to national partners Giesen Wines, 4Pines craft beer, PIMMS and Enjoy Water, Australian spring water in reusable aluminium cans.

It’s official, Wine Wednesdays are now a thing! Every Wednesday, guests will be able to sample the fantastic range of Giesen Wines (up to 8 different kinds) to pair perfectly with a selection of rom-coms. And if you can’t get enough of one them, special Happy Hour pricing will let you upgrade to a bottle without breaking the bank.

Fun
With more than 27 events happening at Brisbane’s City Botanic Gardens, the festival atmosphere will be in full swing every weekend with an array of alternative entertainment; live music and DJ performances before the latest and greatest feature films light up the big screen.

Punters have no need to feel lonesome or long for company on their night out, as ‘Doggy Dates’ provides visitors the chance to adopt a pooch during the movie every Friday with all proceeds going to RSPCA Queensland. Film fanatics and doggy owners are invited to bring their furry friends anytime, as all screenings are pet-friendly.

American Express Card Members are invited to relax and enjoy the full VIP cinema experience by purchasing a ticket to the American Express Lounge.
