"Avi Misra's music is unlike anything else that's currently making the rounds." - Happy Mag

The Tokyo born, Delhi raised, Melbourne based singer, songwriter and producer launches his first third album with a 3 city Australian Tour in February’19. ‘Usha’ is Misra’s first foray into electronic music. Avi has stayed true to his roots as a musician and kept it real; strictly no pitch correction and quantisation, minimal compression and live jams. This organic, human sound is what defines Avi’s productions; from the raw live energy of ‘New Delhi Blues’ to the folk fusion vibes on ‘Eyes on The Radio’ to the transcendental textures of ‘Usha’.

'Usha' explores identity, environment and globalisation with a narrative based on two cities—Indraprastha and New Delhi—that share the same geographical location but are thousands of years apart.

A spontaneous jam at the Ragasthan Festival in 2014 with the Ustad Arba Music Group from the Bheel and Manganiyar gypsy music communities sparked the idea of a recording session in Delhi, producing stems that would feature on ‘Usha’ four years later. Avi has played all the other instruments (guitar/vox/synth bass/drum pads/synth), recorded, mixed and mastered this album from his new Melbourne home studio. Most synthesiser and drum parts on this album have been played on the Ableton Push2 and he will be using the Push2 live with triggers, faders and pads as well as live electric guitar and vocals in his live act.

Avi Misra’s ‘Usha’ Tour features some exceptional guest singer songwriters from Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne playing intimate solo sets. For the Sydney gig we have:

Sabrina Lawrie
"This is a pretty stunning new direction from Sabrina." - Dave Ruby Howe, TripleJ
They didn’t call the Brisbane rocker ‘Queen of the Underground’ for nothing and following the successful release of her 4.5 star Rolling Stone rated debut album in 2017, she is emerging with a new sound and a fierce and forceful message with single 'Nopiates' exploring a vulnerable and honest topic, looking at addiction and substance abuse with a positive message of self-love.

Laik Aife
"Raw splendour and x-treme intimacy." - Emily Gibb, FBi Radio
Once tipped $10 at the pub by Tim Roger's because he thought his wife would think she had the spunk, Laik Aífe (lake ee-fa) is a Sydney based singer-songwriter who slings heartfelt soaring tunes with an endearing twinkle of both sass and 'absolutely terrified' in her eye.

Doors open at 8pm with no order of performances fixed before the show, so come in early and indulge in a feast of song.
