This concert combines the intermediate and senior wind bands from the Murray Conservatorium Albury. The concert will open with popular themes such as Be Our Guest from Beauty and the Beast, Apollo 13 by James Horner and the march Gallant Marines by Karl King.

The senior band will play Kensington Gardens favourites including El Camino Real By Alfred Reed, Afterlife by Rossano Galante and the stunning Japanese festival piece Seventh of July by Itaro Sakai.

The major work for the evening will be the incomparable First Suite in E♭ by Gustav Holst. Written in 1909 as the first major work for military band by an established classical composer, this three movement suite—Chaconne, Intermezzo and March—instantly established itself as a masterpiece. Its appealing English folk song style and thunderous brass writing have kept this work at the top of the band repertoire for 110 years.

Entry is by donation.
