Dean Edgecombe and the Seventh Sons host CBS October Blues Jam.

Dean Edgecombe and the Seventh Sons first got together way back in 2000 to realise a shared desire to present the early electric Blues sounds of Chicago, Texas, Memphis and Kansas City to modern audiences. In the past, the band has mostly kept it pretty casual, gigging in the blues friendly rooms around Canberra with a fairly fluid line up of players.

Over time, Dean introduced some of his own songs into the set, with many of these featuring on the album "Handful of Shadows" which received critical acclaim and solid radio airplay on Community Blues programs around Australia.

The band line up has now stabilised around the players on the album with Dean Edgecombe on bass and vocals, Dave Blanken on guitar, Leo Joseph on keyboards, James Hoogstad on tenor sax and harmonica and John “Murv” Cowell on drums. This month we are featuring a “Seventh Daughter” in the wonderful and talented Ali Penney, who is filling in on keyboards in Leo’s absence.

The Seventh Sons set is a great mix of classic and original Blues presented with respect, excellent musicianship and a sense of fun. They’ll take you all the places the Blues has been. The host band will be followed by some of the finest musicians in the region jamming together for a great afternoon of live blues music. So bring your family, bring your friends and don’t forget your dancing shoes.
