Performing for the first time together in Brisbane, David and Evri will demonstrate extreme technical finesse on their instruments (drums and bass guitar) as well as musically creating fresh sonicscapes.

David is considered one of the great innovative drummer/percussionists. Evri is a rare maestro of 6-string bass and an orchestrator of electronic effects. They call this performance piece 3rd Ear.

Evri Evripidou:
Evripides was born in Cyprus and migrated to Australia at the age of fifteen years old. Since the age of six, he has studied mandolin, piano, clarinet, saxophone, guitar and bass and completed courses in Classical and Jazz guitar and composition. Influenced by the strong rhythms and melodies of a Mediterranean culture, the freedom of Jazz, the discipline and elegance of Classical and Flamenco styles of music, and his deep experiences as a long-term meditator, he has found his 'sound' and fulfillment in expression through his original compositions which he adapts for Film, TV, DVD, Video games and Multimedia. Evripides has gained a reputation as an inventive and electrifying player by taking bass playing to the extreme through innovative use of his six and seven string basses and a variety of electronic effects.

As a producer, composer, arranger performer and session musician, he has worked with an amazing array of artists including James Morrison, Matt Kirsch, Christine Sullivan, Sam McNally, Joe Chindamo, Rod Morgenstein, Mike Portnoy, Bruce Kullic, Eric Slinger, Peter Andre, Tony Lee Scott, John St Peters, Dave Weckyl, Virgil Donati, Sam Aliano, Fred Leduc and Phil Judd.

David Jones:
David is often described as being one of the most innovative and musical drummers in the world, a true virtuoso musician. In the hands (and feet) of David Jones, the drum kit comes alive as a mini-orchestra, vaudeville act, rhythmic explosion and hypnotic trance-inducer, all in one. Using sticks, brushes, mallets, fingers, elbows, violin bow, dish- mops, toys, brooms...and any percussion he can lay his hands on (!), David creates a universe of sounds, textures and rhythms that take you through different cultures, ages, moods and styles. He has played and recorded with many great artists and bands, across all genres, including James Morrison, John Farnham, Bryn Terfel, Time for Three, Bramwell Tovey, Keith Lockhart, John Williams, John Denver, Marcia Hines, Allan Zavod, Don Burrows, Buddy DeFranco, Kate Ceberano, Tommy Emmanuel, Debra Byrne, Rhonda Birchmore, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Ben Sidran, Larry Adler, Pyramid, Don McLean, Crossfire, AtmaSphere, MSO, SSO, WDR Big Band (Köln), Wycliffe Gordon, Wayne Bergeron, Chong Lim, David Campbell, David Hobson, Bill Watrous, Tony Gould, Dragon, Emily Remler, Mike Garson, Eartha Kitt, Ute Lemper, Stylus, Bliss (UK), Elaine Paige, Petula Clark.

"[David’s performance] was nothing less than a spiritual experience...to be truly transported by the power of the drum when it comes from a place of such deep intention as it does with David Jones." - Michael Shrieve, original drummer for Santana

"David Jones is, in my opinion, one of the greatest, most natural, musicians on the planet. His musicianship is mesmerising and captivating—I’ve always felt he was in a class of his own." - Tommy Emmanuel, international artist
