Drawing Essentials for Beginners – One Day Workshop

This one day drawing class is an introduction to some fundamental principles of drawing with charcoal. It’s a class for absolute beginners to give drawing a go! In a relaxed and friendly environment students will:

- Learn how to approach drawing simple still life subjects with charcoal
- Be introduced to some fundamental drawing concepts including composition, proportion, perspective
- Learn about simplifying what and how you see

Is this course right for me?
This drawing class is perfect for absolute beginners or those who have not picked up a pencil since school days! High School visual art students in year 9 and are also encouraged to attend this workshops.

Founder and Director Jennifer McNamara established Art Est in 2008 with a vision to create an art space where students of all ages and abilities can discover their artistic potential in a professional studio environment with practicing artists. Our spacious, light-filled warehouse is an inspiring art space featuring four teaching studios and gallery space and a brand new dedicated ceramics studio. Our professionally managed and purpose built pottery and ceramics studio is equipped with 8 pottery wheels (Venco), dedicated handbuilding stations, slab roller, extruder, glaze and kiln rooms. The studio has 3 electric kilns and all firing occurs on the premises managed by the studio coordinator. We have a good selection of glazes for student use. Additional clay is also available for purchase by students.

Art Est. is conveniently located within walking distance from Light Rail stations, as well as plenty of on site and unmetered street parking. All our tutors are practicing artists and experts in their genre and medium.
