Fever!

Four dynamic singers will give voice to popular songs in a variety of genres with a show called “Fever!”.

Fever! brings together acclaimed singer songwriters Rebecca Barnard, Brooke Russell, Monique di Mattina and Jacqueline Tonks. Supported by a talent-packed live band, they will present harmonic versions of some of their favourite songs from the past decade ranging in styles from jazz, rock, blues, folk to original chart toppers.

Rebecca Barnard comes from a rich musical family history, her grandparents Jim and Kath Barnard running The Kath Barnard Jazz Band in the 1920s, with their son Len (Rebecca’s father) joining the band in the 1940s at the age of 12.

Rebecca grew up listening to Billie Holiday and Louis Armstrong and sang with her Dad’s band at the age of 13, before discovering Joni Mitchell and Bob Dylan, who influenced her vocal style. A focus on songwriting led Rebecca to create Rebecca’s Empire, becoming one of Australia’s best loved bands.

After it disbanded, Rebecca’s voice appeared on the recordings of many major artists over the years before more recently working on a number of solo projects and musical collaborations. Fever! is the first of a musical line-up which also includes comic jazz trio “The New Hip” in May, with band “Canyon” to play originals and four part harmonies inspired by 70s Americana rock in September, and the funky sounds of Dr Hernandez to bring the series to a close in November.
