Gender Bender (for men)

A cross-dressing adventure to explore a greater range of expression, freedom and power. Let's break through roles and taboos of our culture and create a community of people who are free to be themselves and explore a full range of expression.

In this playshop, we will use cross-dressing and connecting to our ‘feminine’ as part of our commitment to men, and people, to be truly free to be themselves, whatever that may look like. We will equally explore the depths of our masculinity while enjoying the freedom that can only be experienced while in drag.

In the second half of the evening, we will join with the women at our sister event in the next room, who are doing the opposite (exploring their man drag), for a wild party of fluid expression, joy and role breaking.

You may have never put on a dress, or perhaps you wear one every day. This may be simply fun or deeply challenging for you. Either way, we invite you on an adventure that is a safe, playful and wild experience of creative expression, dance & celebration of all parts of you. We invite you to explore parts yourself that you perhaps never knew existed.

This is for men or anyone who identifies as a man, of any sexual orientation. It is for people who want to laugh, play and challenge themselves to have a new experience.

Your hosts for the evening are Mikey Lee and Arion Light.

Arion: I have been involved in men’s work for many years and I am passionate about men becoming whole, full beings who live in their power without shame or guilt. I am passionate about men breaking through cultural conditioning to truly be free to live, and love as they see fit. When my friend Vanessa was running an event for women to connect with their ‘inner man’, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to offer this experience to the men. This will be fun. I commit that this is a safe space to role-break (my new favourite word) and experience more of who you are.

Mikey: Mikey loves providing men with facilitated experiences that offer each man an opportunity to connect deeply into his full expression, authenticity and ultimately open pathways to a deeper truth. This event is just that and Mikey couldn’t resist the offer to co-facilitate such a wonderfully playful celebration of all aspects of man. Mikey has enjoyed exploring drag for many years; never understanding why girls get to have all the fun playing with all the bright and shiny things; the makeup, the feathers, the jewellery, skirts & sparkles. Mikey has previously run an incredibly fun drag workshop and cannot wait to share this space with Arion, Vanessa, Nic and each of the beautiful men that will join us on this adventure where we will celebrate you in your fullest expression.

What will happen on the night?

More details will be sent out before the event, but here are the basics:

5:30 to 7:00pm - Dress Up, we will supply many dresses, wigs and makeup to find your unique feminine expression. We do however encourage all men to BYO outfit. The purchasing of the drag is part of the fun!

7:00 to 9:00pm - Facilitated activities and sharing to explore how it feels to role-break and play in a new field of expression with other brave adventurers.

9:00 to 10:30pm - A wild party where we bring the two rooms together to further explore the depth of our gender-bending selves!

Great music, fun times. Alcohol and drug-free.
