I Am My Own Wife

I Am My Own Wife is a powerful touring theatre production with a script that won the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. The show tells the fascinating, true tale of Charlotte von Mahlsdorf, a German transvestite who managed to survive both the Nazi onslaught and the repressive East German Communist regime. Written by Doug Wright, based on real conversations with Charlotte von Mahlsdorf herself, this story follows her life and attempts to uncover the truth behind the eccentric woman. A single actor plays all thirty-six roles in the play, making it a powerhouse of performance from Tamworth actor Daniel Gillett.
