Enjoy a full day of talks and a delicious lunch.

In conversation: Creative Women is a day for exploring. You’ll hear from women who have chosen to live a creative life. Together we unpack what it means to be creative and express ideas, thoughts and emotions, whether it’s through weaving, designing, sculpting or performing. We’ll learn about the vision, discipline and pleasures that come from exploring and expressing our inner selves.

We delve into our own creativity. We review our approach, our process, our goals. The mysteries of the life of an artist come alive as our guest speakers talk about their working lives, their achievements, and what they have learned over the course of their careers. An inspirational and fun day of talks wrestling with the idea of creativity. Once again, we delve into what makes creative women tick. This year we welcome a weaver and illustrator, a paper artist, a painter, a sculptor and social entrepreneurs to explore thoughts about their creative process: where to find inspiration, committing to a work practice, discovering the art of collaboration and building an audience or community. Each of the talks cover the speakers’ work and practice.

Our guests this year include:

- Jo Neville In conversation with Tracy Lines. Jo is a paper artist and the artist-in-residence at Q Station.
- Silvana Azzi Heras in conversation with Alexandra Gordon. As the founder of boutique design studio House of Heras, Silvana has channelled more than 20-years experience in theatre and film designs into a range of lush, opulent home textiles.
- Kim Pearce & Kath Davis in conversation with Di Jenkins. Kim and Kath founded The Possibility Project, a social enterprise that involves championing slow clothing, using new and recycled Indian fabrics to make clothes and lovely things.
- Burlesque artist Imogen Kelly has written, directed, produced, performed and toured her own one-woman shows, and been crowned World Queen of Burlesque at the Burlesque Hall of Fame, Las Vegas
- Sculptor Harrie Fasher in conversation with Anna Bateman. Harrie works out of a large farm shed in the NSW country town of Oberon
- Sally Scales is a Pitjantjatjara woman from Pipalyatjara in the far west of the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in remote South Australia.

"Inspirational, more more inspiration! What a fabulous day beautifully orchestrated, outstanding organisation beautiful food much laughter and a tear or three. Congratulations to one and all who were responsible for collating a day with such diverse and artistic prowess. I had the most wonderful day which will stay in my memory for many a day and look forward to an encore next year!" - Sue, 2017

"I just want to thank you all for such a truly wonderful day on Saturday. Not a glitch and just a real buzz! Well done." - Jane, 2017

A celebration of International Women’s Day, held annually in March, we will also look at issues that confront female artists, challenges and obstacles to overcome, and insights into pursuing a creative life. Each of the guest speakers will be ‘in conversation’ with an equally impressive interviewer, ranging from fellow artists to journalists. A lunch of nurturing, nourishing and delectable wholefood will be served.
