Join us on the rooftop of Alex Hotel to celebrate the strength and resilience of women in honour of International Women’s Day! Enjoy snacking on a selection of Shadow Wine Bar canapes and an arrival beverage before settling into two live stories presented by the Centre for Stories.

Our first storyteller, Kate Purcell, is a mental health advocate and peer community worker for Ruah Community Services. She shares the story of overcoming her own mental health issues and the light she found at the end of the tunnel.

Our second storyteller, Noelle Martin, has been instrumental in image-based sexual abuse law reform in WA, NSW and the Commonwealth, after her own image was doctored into pornography and shared worldwide.

Bring your partners, bring your mates, bring your mum or your dad. Support these powerful stories at Alex Hotel on the evening of 8 March 2019. #BalanceforBetter

About Kate Purcell
Kate has been working in the field of mental health for 5 years and is currently a peer community worker for RUAH Community Services in the Early Psychosis Youth Service program. She is passionate about public speaking and writing which is mostly in relation to her mental health journey, and other mental health related topics. She is particularly passionate when it comes to reducing stigma around mental health issues.

About Noelle Martin
Noelle Martin is a law graduate, Western Australia's Young Australian of the Year 2019, an activist, and law reformist. After anonymous sexual predators doctored images of her into pornography and distributed them around the world, Noelle spoke out publicly and advocated for laws to change to criminalise the non-consensual distribution of intimate images. Noelle is now fighting for a global response to this global issue having featured on a Wall Street Journal documentary on deepfakes, after predators created deepfakes of Noelle in order to silence her.
