This two day introductory workshop will be useful for those who are interested in becoming supervisors, and for those supervisors who are either looking for a 'refresher' or who are new to the role or looking to expand their knowledge and skills. The training is specific to the supervision of counsellors, social workers and case workers in the human services area.
Incorporating self-awareness, theory and skills practice, the two days will include looking at different models of supervision, ethical issues in relation to the supervisor role, and ways to intervene effectively with supervisees to fulfil the requirements of the role.
The workshops will focus on:
- Identifying a range of skills, knowledge and attitudes which assist in being an effective supervisor;
- reflecting on our own supervisory style;
- reviewing a number of models of supervision and practicing the application of one;
- ethical dilemmas that arise for supervisors in their work with supervisees;
- developing a workable contract with your supervisee;
- the challenges and joys of group supervision.
