About the Lady In the Radiator

The Lady in the Radiator is a new project by Julie Kavanagh. Her absurd humour and morbid fascinations seep into her delicate song writing and ethereal vocal performances. In line with the theme “The Caged Birds of my Heart”, Julie’s original songs are performed from the perspective of being trapped inside a radiator. This a daring new solo venture has been created while she is based in the Upside-Down.

Julie Kavanagh hails from the wild west coast of Ireland, steeped in a folk music tradition as old as time itself. She performed for many years as an avante garde ‘scrap-yard folk’ musician and artist with her band Twin Headed Wolf which was deemed “Glastonbury’s most special festival find” by the Spectator Magazine in 2014. She is very involved in the folk music revival scene in Dublin. Her solo singing and recordings with her twin have been added to the Irish Traditional Music Archives.
