Create your own beautiful lantern using cane and paper in this full day workshop. It’s up to you what form you make. Be inspired by animals, sea creatures or even abstract shapes in this easy to learn, non-toxic process.

What to expect:

Students will learn the simple techniques for making the lantern structure using bamboo and cane then cover the form with tissue paper. Leave your lantern white, or paint it with bright colours to create a coloured glow once lit up.

Kassandra Bossell is an experienced artist, designer and prop-maker. Drawing inspiration from the hanging lanterns of northern Thailand, participants will be taught simple techniques using cane, wire and paper to construct a colourful creature ready to be lit.

Is this course right for me?

No experience required, and all speciality materials are included in the workshop fee. This full-day workshop is suitable for adults and high school students 15 years +.

Painting, Drawing and Ceramics Classes for Everyone in Sydney’s Inner West

Art Est. offers a boutique learning experience for adults, teens and children. Located in a spacious, light-filled heritage warehouse, with four dedicated teaching studios, an art gallery and a new ceramics studio. Our class sizes are kept to only 10–12 students (8 for wheel throwing pottery), ensuring each student receives the individual tuition they need.

Art classes for adults are available weekdays, evenings and Saturday mornings. We also have a great range of single day weekend art workshops available, a perfect option for visitors to Sydney looking for things to do, or for someone who doesn’t have time to commit to a term class.

Kids and Teens can build their creative skills at our after school and Saturday term classes as well as our school holiday workshops each and every holiday.
