Some comments from the artists:
Watercolour—both a joyful & terrifying medium to work in.
A wonderful, runny, unpredictable & exciting medium. I paint for the sheer satisfaction it gives me. It allows me to switch off & get lost in my own little world. I love the vibrant transparency of watercolour washes, the happy accidents that sometimes occur and the intricacy this medium has to offer.
Watercolour is so spontaneous a medium that freshness & speed of execution are vitally important.
The paintings in this exhibition reflect my fascination with my life in the 21st century. I discovered watercolour some forty years ago & was instantly seduced by its magic & it still holds me in its spell. It is the only medium that will keep creating amazing effects by itself. Masters of Watercolour stimulates and surprises.
"It entices viewers to take an in-depth look at this wonderful medium and to marvel at these Masters’ achievements through their control of light and colour," says Exhibition Manager/Curator, Jacqueline Taylor OAM.
