This July, The Melbourne Documentary Film Festival comes to Backlot Studios for its fourth impressive edition, featuring the most thought-provoking, progressive and eclectic docos from Australia and around the world.
The festival competition will see country vs country, film school vs film school, festival vs festival and legendary filmmakers vs emerging talent in an epic 11 day competition.

Description: ‘Forged from Fire’ tells the story of how an Australian and international community of blacksmiths, welders, artists and volunteers responded to the devastating Black Saturday bushfires by creating perhaps the most ambitious public artwork and memorial in Australia – a three tonne, 9.8-meter tall stainless steel and copper gum tree – The Blacksmiths’ Tree.
