MJC Presents: Aaalto

Alto saxophone Flora Carbo, a finalist as Young Artist of the Year in the Bell Awards (and recently returned from attending a workshop at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity) has assembled a new project, Aaalto, bringing her together in collaboration with two other impressive younger talents on alto saxophone: Adelaide’s Bernard Alexander (who performed for the MJC with Bear & Missile) and Zac O’Connell. Aaalto is a project that exploits the concepts of style and individuality by presenting three musicians on the same instrument in one small ensemble.

The repertoire of Aaalto is comprised of original music and unique interpretations of other songs, all with a strong emphasis on group improvisation and interplay, complimented by the dynamic rhythm team of Hiroki Hoshino (bass) and Luke Andresen (drums).
