Warwick Dunham will show off his brilliance, and theat of the composers Bach and Mendelssohn in the Music on a Market Sunday concert at 12:30pm on 28 April in the Uniting Church. He will be playing Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in Eb and Mendelssphn’s Sonata 2 in C minor.

Warwick Dunham is one of Armidales’ most versatile musicians, excelling as both a brilliant classical organist and in popular idioms. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in Eb is is one of his masterpieces, and part of the German Organ Mass. It has elicited the comment: “The author has given here new proof that in this kind of composition he excels many others in experience and skill. No-one can surpass him in this sphere, and very few indeed will be able to imitate him.” The Mendelssohn sonata is one of six showy but intensely poetical works in which Mendelssohn drew on his knowledge of Bach and his own flamboyance.

This is a wonderful chance to here one of Armidale’s leading musicians showing of two masterworks for the organ. Admission to the concert is free, though donations are encouraged. Tea and sausages will be available at the Uniting Church before the concert.
