Music for Horn and Trombone in December Sunday Concert.

The December concert in the Music on a Market Sunday Series doesn’t actually occur on a market Sunday but will take place on 8 December at 12:30pm in the Uniting Church. It will feature works for trombone and horn by Beethoven and Weber played by Nicholas Hadfield and Dave Brown accompanied by John Clifton Everest.

Nicholas and John will be playing Beethoven’s Sonata for French Horn and Piano op 17. This is an early work from 1800 and when it was played in Budapest a critic asked “Who is this Beethoven?” He discovered the answer over the next few years. Dave and John will be playing Weber’s Romance for Trombone and Piano, which might not be by Weber at all but no one else has yet claimed it. Probably originally written for bassoon, trombonists have seized on it as a rare example of late classical/early romantic repertoire. This is a great opportunity to hear two of Armidale‘s leading brass players with music of two hundred years ago.

Admission to the concert is free through donations are encouraged.
