Winton’s Outback Festival is five days of quintessential Australian fun in the heart of Queensland’s Outback. Famous for the Quilton Australian Dunny Derby, this hilarious event involves teams of five pulling and pushing the thunderbox (dunny) through an obstacle course, all competing for over AUD 5,000 in prizes.
Other signature events range from the Outback Ironman + Ironwoman, Century Cycle Challenge and a swag of novelty Australiana events, such as whip cracking championships, bushman’s egg throwing, strongman challenges, wool bale rolling and bush poet breakfasts. Combine this with live bands, little swaggies, kid’s events and a new sunset dining experience overlooking Winton’s stunning landscape and you have an Aussie festival not to be missed in 2019.
Winton is sure to welcome you, your friends and family. What began as a small celebration back in 1972 has grown to some 8,000 visitors descending on the small outback town every two years in September.
Visitors can bring their own swag or stay in tent city, where the tent and bedding is all set up for your arrival.
