RL Boyce is the reigning master of hill country blues. Born and raised in Como, Mississippi, R.L. Boyce started performing as a drummer in Otha Turner’s fife and drum band (whose music is featured in the movie “Gangs of New York”) and then with Napolian Strickland and Jessie Mae Hemphill.
Inspired by Fred McDowell and RL Burnside, he taught himself to play guitar and became a front man, playing a style of blues unique to the north Mississippi hill country of Tate, Panola, and Marshall Counties. R.L. takes whatever the “good Lord” puts in his mind, channels it down through his fingers, and gives it to the world.
Dom Turner is best known as guitarist/ vocalist, founding member and key songwriter of the iconic Australian blues group, Backsliders. Dom’s influences are many and varied—a blend of delta blues, piedmont blues, rock, dub and sounds of Asia. He is a highly regarded speaker on blues music and has guested on Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) radio programs (including a weekly series entitled ‘Blues Tuesdays’ and guest presenting Radio National’s ‘Music Deli’) and presented music workshops at festivals and in universities (both nationally and internationally).
With Rosscoe Clark -Drums.
