The 10-piece Malo Malo bring their own brand of progressive salsa that is heavily inspired by the classic 1970’s Cuban, Puerto Rican and New York dance bands mixed with modern influences such as Soul/Rnb, Contemporary Jazz and Timba. Led by the Australian Danny G Felix they have just released their debut album “Australeño which contains their popular original recordings “El Robo”, “Tombola” “Derecho,” “Acuarela,” and “Ritmo Caliente.” Their ever growing repertoire also includes classics by the likes of Eddie Palmieri, Grupo Niche, Hector Lavoe, Ruben Blades, Celia Cruz, Ray Barretto and they are open to requests. A distinct originality enriches the latin rhythms including guaguanco, son montuno, mozambique, cha cha, son, songo and bolero.

They’ve headlined at the Sydney Salsa Palladium for the past four years, were featured at Melbourne’s Johnston Street Festival the last two last years and have toured multiple times to Colombia with special guests from Grupo Niche, Hermanos Lebron, Calibre and La Mambanegra.

Malo Malo’s bandleader and pianist/trumpetist Danny G Felix has lived and worked in Cali, Colombia “the world capital of Salsa” as a member of Orquesta Calibre and Marea Brava both with whom he has recorded some of the biggest current international salsa hits.
