Bankstown Central is celebrating our older community members as part of Seniors Week with Bulldog’s legend Steve Mortimer demonstrating and highlighting the fun and social benefits of playing Australian Shuffleboard.
Shuffleboard is a team sport played on a 12ft timber table where participants slide metal pucks along the playing surface aiming for their puck to stop as far into the scoring zone as possible without falling into the ditch. The further the puck, the higher the score.
Steve and his shuffleboard will be located on Level 1 (near Michel’s Patisserie) on Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 February between 11am and 2pm. And after a round with Steve, seniors are invited to sit back, relax and be entertained by the Roving Musicians as they make their way around the Centre on both days from 11am to 2pm. Then on Wednesday 20 February, there’s free Health and Wellness information sessions, also on Level 1 (near Michel’s Patisserie), along with a free coffee at participating cafés from 11am to 2pm.
To further assist our senior citizens, Bankstown Central provides team members with Arabic and Vietnamese language skills, a free taxi concierge service and free wheelchair and motorised scooter hire (bookings recommended—via Bankstown Central's website).
