Exhibition Opening with wine and cheeses plus a virtual reality experience for public interaction hosted by Swinburne and Oz Grav ARC Centre for Excellence in Gravitational Wave Discovery.

Artists, Pam Bain, Daniel Armstrong and Roger Alsop
Photography, installation, and a media sound projection.

"Please join us at the opening to take a trip out into the solar system and beyond! OzGrav’s VR system takes up to six people at once to a virtual universe full of planets, stars, black holes and of course, gravitational waves! Visitors are guided by experienced scientists from the planets; stars, and far reaching galaxies to the most extreme objects in the universe."

The show runs until 23rd April. The phenomenon of Time is one of the most enigmatic forces in nature. It lies at the heart of our consciousness invoking memories of the past, our perception of the now and our dreamings for the future. It stretches out to infinity and yet seemingly passes through our fingers as each new moment unfolds into the next.

Spacetime refers to Albert Einstein’s theory that the dimensions of space and time are intimately entwined as one. Inspired by science and philosophy, the works of these three artists is imbued with a sense of poetics and mystery. Cosmological notions of deep space and deep time, transformations of raw data into visual and sonic modalities—time as a flowing state of change, to images of aged and distressed watch faces symbolising our futile attempt to track and measure time as it passes through our lives.
