Umberto Clerici, Conductor
Join the Sydney Youth Chamber Ensemble (SYCE) as they break out of the traditional classical music mould and perform in Home The Venue, in Darling Harbour.
Led by the esteemed principal cellist from the Sydney Symphony Orchestra & artistic director of SYCE, Umberto Clerici, SYCE shakes it up with traditional pieces such as Vivialdi’s Concerto per violoncello e orchestra, but also paired with a more contemporary piece Hell 1—a piece from the Music for the Divine Comedy—composed by Giovanni Sollima, composed in 2000. Along with Bosso’s Sea Prayer, Clerici has programmed this project based on “Musical Minimalism in Italy: Three Centuries Later”, paying tribute to an Important expressive movement in classical music from the second half of the 1900s.
This is an evening to challenge the pre-conceptions of classical music, to bring it to a venue that you normally wouldn’t experience music such as this within. Come along and embrace this contrasting change.
