Take part in baroque violist Katie Yap’s musical trip to Europe and back—before she takes the journey in person!

Beginning with the sunrise theme of Handel’s first violin sonata (arranged for viola and cello), Katie and her travelling companions, violinist Shaun Lee-Chen and cellist Krista Low will explore beloved works from 18th Century Europe by J.S. Bach, Boccherini and Mozart. Then they’ll hop in the Tardis to arrive in modern Australia, still armed with their baroque instruments! Discover the enchanting and intimate sounds of gut strings and baroque bows, and how they can traverse time and place to tell the stories in music through the ages and across continents.

This concert is a fundraising event, to help Katie get to Europe to study at the Helicona International School of Improvisation, a summer course run by the renowned baroque violinist and improviser Davide Monti. Donations are gratefully accepted in cash on the day (or contact Katie if you prefer to donate by bank transfer).

Tea and Katie's famous home-made cakes will be served following the concert.

The event will be at the Eileen Joyce Studio.
