This one night only event is apart of the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

How many stories have gone untold? How do we process our own pain, healing, disconnection and growth? How do we celebrate our love, joys and triumphs? The time has come for us to no longer be a voice to the voiceless but to pass the mic to those who have not been given a chance to speak. How do you handle tragedy? Do your family know you’re queer? How do you discuss mental health? Where do you feel like home?

These are the questions that are so often asked but only a few are given the chance to answer. In a world were the voices of people of colour are often silenced, where stories of hope and tragedy are largely unnoticed, this works gathers interviews from 100 South Asian individuals of all genders, sexualities, abilities, and experiences about the dialogues they feel they have not been given a chance to have. Featuring the works of Charlotte Sareño Raymond, a Sri Lankan- Filipino Melbourne-based poet and music by The Art of Kara, this is a chance to hear what has not been heard before - this is 'The Melanin Monologues.'

This is venue chair accessible.

The show is AUSLAN interpreted as well as open captioned. This show is a relaxed performance suitable for those who are neurodivergent or suffer from PTSD. There will be a chill out space with a support person as well ear plugs and mental health first aid kits should you require this. More information on access will be provided in the lead up to the show otherwise contact charlotte.laurasia@gmail.com.
