Together Forever: Families Unite in Remembrance on ANZAC Day

The building of ANZAC Cottage in 1916 was essentially a family affair. Photographs in the Souvenir Booklet written and published to mark this imaginative project show men, women and children all contributing in some way to this community endeavour. Reflecting this and the importance of family to our veterans, the Friends of ANZAC Cottage have ensured that ANZAC Day at ANZAC Cottage has a strong family focus. This includes the free wreath making workshop for children at 4pm, to the Field of Remembrance commemorating those lost in warfare, the performance of the Ngaru Pou Maori Cultural Group acknowledging the "NZ" in ANZAC, the family friendly music of Random Axe all culminating with the evocative Sunset Service commencing at 5:15pm, the last ANZAC Day Service on the Australian mainland.

On ANZAC Day, 25 April, 2019, ANZAC Cottage at 38 Kalgoorlie Street, Mt Hawthorn will be open from 3pm to 6pm and visitors are welcome to tour the Cottage and learn more about its fascinating story. Partial road closure from 3pm to 6pm will ensure there is room for all. Entry is free. For more information, please email chapan@highway1.com.au or call 0411 44 55 82.
