International award-winning Trio Anima Mundi is one of Australia's best-known chamber groups. Since its foundation in 2008, it has become renowned for its 'Piano Trio Archaeology'—the unearthing and performing forgotten works and presenting these findings alongside masterpieces of the piano trio genre and freshly-minted contemporary compositions.
This concert features two composers who were 'Kapellmeisters' - Haydn most famously to the Esterházy family, and Reissiger of the Dresden Court, succeeding Carl Maria von Weber. The Haydn trio is jovial and bright; and the contrasting romanticism of the Reissiger trio presentation heralds the beginning of a multi-year TAM project to record all 27 of his piano trios.
Franz Joseph Haydn - Piano Trio in c Major, Hob.XV/27
Carl Reissiger - Piano Trio No.1 in D minor, Op.25
