Perth Folk and Roots Club is glad to be working again with the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts in presenting Verandah Folk and Roots, a music series run on the second Sunday of every month with the first on Sunday 10th February 2019 with Town of Victoria Park support. All are welcome to come along.

For this event, the Perth Folk and Roots Club has the Helen Townsend Duet, Daniel T Searle and the Keith Anthonisz and Paul Homewood Duet.

"The Perth Folk and Roots Club is proud to be bringing musicians to the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts for a new music series over 2019," said Keith Anthonisz, President of the Perth Folk and Roots Club.

Helen Townsend is a singer songwriter with a vocal style that has been described as country or contemporary folk with performances at the Perth Blues Club, Mundaring Folk Club and local Fremantle venues like the Norfolk Basement and Clancys Fish Pub and festivals such as Nannup.
Helens early influences include Emmylou Harris, Iris DeMent and John Prine to name a few, along with a healthy dose of local bands such as The Bondi Cigars, Black Cat Moan, Satellite V and The Prickles. Helens debut CD, Wayward Heart has resulted in multiple nominations for awards such as Boyup Brook Country Music Award for "Red Light' Single of the Year and a WAM nomination for "Streets of Glory" Song of the Year.

Daniel T Searle is a musician and artist with honest expression being an important part of his approach. Daniel has been playing for many years and is a multi-instrumentalist with acoustic guitar, lap steel, fiddle, flute, harmonica and a variety of Eastern instruments all part of his musical tool box. A focus for Daniel in recent times has been the music release of his Twisted Gospel CD. Twisted Gospel reflects the bodied textures of Johnny Cash, with a hint of Tom Waits and a touch of Leonard Coen. Daniel refers to the music as being for the heart to express true communication of language of the soul: the good, the bad, the ugly and the beautiful. Through Twisted Gospel’s twelve tracks, Daniel T Searle is able to showcase a unique atmospheric mix of stripped back acoustic sounds accompanied by his deep rich voice.

Paul Homewood together with Keith Anthonisz are musicians who grew up together in Victoria Park, attended Kent Street High School and will be bringing their long experience together as musicians with Paul on drums and percussion and Keith on vocals and acoustic guitar.

"The Perth Folk and Roots Club looks forward to Verandah Folk and Roots at the Victoria Park Centre for the Arts with Helen Townsend Duet and Daniel T Searle joining Paul Homewood and myself in performing at the Centre," said Keith Anthonisz.
